To banish fear from our hearts, that we may embrace each of your children as our own brother and sister We build barriers in our hearts and in our minds.

Like your disciples, we too are filled with fear and doubt and even suspicion. Lord Jesus, today you call us to welcome the members of God’s family who come to our land to escape oppression, poverty, persecution, violence, and war. Lord Jesus, when you multiplied the loaves and fishes, you provided more than food for the body, you offered us the gift of yourself, the gift which satisfies every hunger and quenches every thirst! Your disciples were filled with fear and doubt, but you poured out your love and compassion on the migrant crowd, welcoming them as brothers and sisters. Lord, on our journey home, bring us together in peace, in justice, and in love, through Christ our Lord. Help us now to befriend the friendless, protect the weak children, and work for the rights of all. Help us in your work, to take the side of the lowly, to defend the newcomer, to welcome the stranger. United Nations High Commissioner of Refugeesįather of the poor, God of love, you made us all your children we praise You and thank You. Open our hearts to receive them as our sisters and brothers in whose face we see your son, Jesus. Lead refugees to a new home and a new hope, as you led the Holy Family to their new home in Nazareth. Help them know that you accompany them as you accompanied Jesus, Mary, and Joseph in their exile to Egypt. Warm, especially, the hearts of the young, the old, and the most vulnerable among them. When all will rejoice in your Kingdom of justice and of peace Ĭompassionate God, make your loving presence felt to refugees, torn from home, family and everything familiar. Inspire generosity and compassion in all our hearts Īnd guide the nations of the world towards that day We pray for humankind to be present today!īless those who work to bring them relief Lord, do you hear our voice from the abyss of death?

Lord Jesus, do you hear the prayer of our flesh? Our distress signals rise and rise again, We seek for land during endless days and endless nights. Lost in the tempests out on the open seas, Bring them back safely to the place where they long to be and help us always to show your kindness to strangers and to all in need. In your kindness, watch over refugees and victims of war, those separated from their loved ones, young people who are lost, and those who have left home or who have run away from home.

Lord God, no one is a stranger to you and no one is ever far from your loving care.
